Abstract

The integration of renewable Energies into all layers of the Electrical Grid, carried out within the evolution towards a Smart Grid, causes heightened requirements with regards to the overall system design. To meet these challenges novel approaches for the specification of architecture models, which facilitate a secure and efficient monitoring and control of the decentralized components using heterogeneous communication networks, are essential. Out of this reasoning the concept developed within the scope of the European FP7 project SmartC2Net is presented by means of use cases. The concept is aimed at providing integrative solutions for the operation of future energy distribution grids, while being adaptive to the existing conditions. An evaluation of the presented architecture’s performance is conducted via multiple methods, including test beds as well as simulations.
